The Girls are ready for Christmas

Sunday Morn (Just Barely)

Well... so much for me being "back here" as I intended, eh?  I guess I should feel good that I'm managing to add a new post within a week (only just) after my last post, but my thought was that I would be oh-so-prolific this past week.  Not so much.

John is now fighting a bit of a cold, and I'm still at the tail end of whatever I picked up last weekend.  We've spent a lot of time sleeping, and not doing much else this weekend.  We managed to buy cat litter yesterday!  We'll see what today brings.

The Girls and I had a new veterinary adventure this week with Dr. Sweet.  This visit went much better than our last visit all together.  The good Dr. has added a new vaccine to the Girls' regimen this year that required a booster shot.  I packed the girls up quickly and tried not to let on that we were headed for the Vet, but if you've ever put a cat in a carrier, you know that they know as soon as you pick them up!  Maggie B was still hissy and cranky at the office, but she recovered quickly once we got home.  Tori was fine as usual.  She's become a pro at visiting the Dr. at this point.  (As a diabetic cat, she seems to actually recognize that visiting the Dr. helps!)

I've been reading a gift book from my husband for the last few weeks, and I find I'm having trouble ending it at this point.  I'm reading "Born Standing Up" by Steve Martin - a memoir of his stand up comedy career.  Many of you probably don't know that I'm mildly obsessed with Steve Martin - he's the "pipe dream" celebrity I'd give nearly anything to meet!  The book is terrific.  It's not all laugh-out-loud funny like Martin's stand up was, but it's a very well written "normal guy's" take on how he got to be where he was in comedy.  Of course I'm laughing a lot too.  I'm only having trouble finishing the book at this point because I don't want to stop reading it!

After I finish this one, I have no fewer than 4 more books waiting to be started including a Harry Potter (#4, I think?), a book about buying a home, a few others I can't even remember at the moment, and more than a couple of magazines.  Hmm... what am I doing down here typing in the dungeon?!?

Losing Weight!

Good news from Dr. Sweet's office - BOTH girls are losing weight!  Tori has lost 1.4 pounds since January, and Maggie has lost 2 pounds.  Now they even get a teensy bit more food with each meal, and Maggie B. gets a few extra treats so she doesn't get too skinny.  (Please don't tell Tori about the extra treats for her sister.)

Reduction Diet Follow-up

Hello Friends and Cat Lovers!

Tomorrow morning the girls and I head over (2 blocks over) to see Dr. Sweet!  This is a follow-up weigh-in for the girls, after several months on "Reduction Diet" cat food.  Doesn't that sound yummy?  I should mention again that we ended up on the diet food because Tori (a.k.a. "Princess") weighed 16.5 pounds.  Maggie was a much healthier, but still overweight, 11 pounds.  At this point, Maggie has lost plenty of weight.  Princess?  Not so much.  We'll see what the doctor says.  You would think with almost no teeth left, Tori wouldn't be able to eat enough Reduction Diet to maintain her weight.  She's also got the "I don't ever move if I don't have to" factor going for her.

Woooohooo - cat carriers, here we come!  (And did I mention they get no food after 9pm tonight?)
